A development trust for Beeston & Holbeck

Tiger11 is a “development trust”. What does that mean? Well, the Development Trusts Association say trusts should be:

Engaged in the economic, environmental and social regeneration of a defined area
Tiger11 is focused on the LS11 post code in South Leeds – Holbeck, West Hunslet, Beeston Hill, Beeston and Cottingley. We are building a successful social enterprise and helping others start their own business through the Catalyst. We have brought an empty building (Hillside) back into use and are working to reduce its carbon footprint. We are also bringing different sections of the community together to work on the project and benefit from it.

Independent, self-sufficient and not for private profit
Tiger11 is a new organisation, we aim to trade to pay our way so that we are not dependent on grants from the Government or Lottery. We have bought Hillside so that we have an asset for the long term. As an Industrial & Provident Society we have to re-invest our profits – we aim to use it to set up new social enterprises providing services in the community.

Community based, owned and managed

Tiger11 was set up by people living in the LS11 area. Most of our Board members and most of our staff live in the area including Jeremy Morton our Director. We have a membership scheme so you can join Tiger11 and have a say in how its run.

Actively involved in partnerships and alliances between the community, voluntary, private and public sectors
Tiger11 is an active member of the Aspire group of community and voluntary sector groups in south Leeds and of Leeds Voice. We are working with Leeds City Council on the Sharing The Success (LEGI) programme and are a member of the Beeston Hill & Holbeck Regeneration Partnership. Tiger11 hosts the Leeds Social Enterprise Network. We aim to strengthen and broaden these partnerships over time and especially develop better ties with the private sector.
